When Andrews first visited UMD, she was not planning to leave Yale where she had been for 18 years or become a department chair. But the warmth, authenticity and talent that she saw in CBMG seduced her, and the rest is history.

Sanford was never afraid to handle different creatures, as long as they didn’t bite or sting her, and she likes to think that her environment growing up influenced her desire to learn more about science, specifically biology.
