The Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics teaches and advises undergraduate students in the Biological Sciences major (BSCI) and teaches, mentors and trains graduate students in the Biological Sciences graduate program (BISI).

A primary mission of the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics is to provide undergraduate students with an education that integrates theoretical concepts with laboratory and research skills, while giving students opportunities to grow and build a knowledge base for productive careers.

The goal of the graduate program is to enable students to obtain the best training in their intended research areas, to work closely with outstanding faculty, and to prepare for successful futures contributing to innovative advances and effective teaching in the life sciences.
