Thompson's mom was a chemist who worked at the American Chemical Society and her lawyer dad worked at the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department and then the Washington Bureau of the NAACP to be their legal counsel in D.C.

Wang recently won the new CBMG DEI award for making important contributions to the department, including creating a welcoming, inclusive, fair, and open environment.
