PE Spinning Disk

The Imaging Core's PerkinElmer UltraView VoX confocal spinning disk system, located in B0118 Physical Sciences Complex building, is optimized for rapid live-cell imaging in four dimensions (x, y, z and time). The system produces high signal-to-noise ratio images with minimal photobleaching. It is equipped with a Yokogawa CSU-X1 spinning disk scanhead (5000 rpm), six solid-state laser lines for sample excitation (405, 445, 488, 515, 561, 640 nm), LED light source for brightfield imaging, 512 x 512 Hamamatsu C9100-23B EMCCD high-sensitivity camera, a Tokai Hit environmental chamber for mammalian cells, motorized x-y stage and PhotoKinesis unit.

New Users

Faculty and students who wish to use the microscope should follow the instructions in the New Users Guide. Prepared slides will be used during the training session in order to acquaint new users with all aspects of the microscope, however, new users are also encouraged to bring their own samples to the training session if any are available.

Rate Schedule

Please see the rate schedule for a list of all instrument rates. Fees are used to help cover the cost of the service contract on the microscope, which is partially subsidized by The department, and to help pay for materials such as lens paper and lens cleaning solution.

Policy

The Imaging Core in the Physical Sciences complex building is a BSL-2 facility. All users are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the complete list of policies governing the use of the facility.
